Dyan M. Kozaczka

Partner

Attorney Kozaczka represents individuals in all areas of family law, including divorce, alimony, child support, property division, mediation, arbitration, and post-judgment motions for modification and contempt. She has extensive experience settling and litigating highly complex financial matters. Attorney Kozaczka often collaborates with financial experts to analyze and determine the value of interests in private equity funds, professional practices, and privately held business interests. She is known for her persistence, attention to detail and pragmatic approach to cases.

Attorney Kozaczka has experience resolving and litigating difficult custody disputes. Attorney Kozaczka appreciates that every client, family, and case is different and prepares a strategy to achieve each individual client's particular goals, while also considering the financial and emotional costs of any given action.

Attorney Kozaczka has considerable experience in dealing with both the defense of, and attacks on, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. In this sophisticated niche of the law, her ability to formulate strategies, work closely with experts, review financial disclosures, trace assets, assess claims of unconscionability and make cogent arguments as to the specifics of statutory considerations, all serve the interests of clients who have, or are considering entering into, prenuptial agreements.

Prior to joining Siegel, Colin & Kaufman, P.C., as a Partner, Attorney Kozaczka worked at a highly respected firm in Westport, CT focusing exclusively on family law. Before choosing to focus her practice solely on matrimonial law, Dyan litigated complex commercial litigation cases at the trial court, argued before the Appellate court, and represented institutional and individual clients in contested bankruptcy proceedings in federal court. Her experience in these other practice areas provides her with a well-rounded background that is invaluable in handling family matters, especially those that involve interests in entities and intricate trusts and estate plans.

Most recently, Attorney Kozaczka co-counseled the first virtual divorce trial in Connecticut at Connecticut's Regional Family Trial Docket. The virtual trial lasted over 8 weeks and included multiple out-of-state witnesses, financial experts and numerous exhibits, which were presented electronically. Attorney Kozaczka was also a co-presenter at the 2020 CT Legal Conference on "Alimony Retrospective: A Discussion on Case Law and Settlement Strategies since the Implementation of The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act."

Dyan has been nominated by her peers for recognition by "Connecticut Super Lawyers" as a "Rising Star" each year since 2014. In 2016, she was also selected as a "40 Under 40" recipient by Fairfield County Business Journal, an honor that recognizes influential young leaders in the community. In 2018, she was named a New Leader in the Law by the Connecticut Law Tribune.
