Kevin James Daken

Partner

Attorney Kevin J. Daken represents clients in all facets of family law including divorce and legal separation, alimony and child support, property distribution, child custody and access, post-judgment enforcement and modifications, and pre- and post-nuptial agreements. Attorney Daken's wide-ranging experience includes cases involving disputed business and real estate valuations, complex compensation structures, vocational evaluations, and contentious disputes over custody and access.

Attorney Daken favors a cooperative approach to cases to minimize the financial and emotional toll on his clients, and he also utilizes mediation and collaborative divorce to achieve those ends, but he will not hesitate to go to court when necessary to protect his clients' interests. Attorney Daken aspires to deliver cost-effective, favorable and fair results to his clients using common sense and an attention to detail. He firmly believes that family and matrimonial attorneys are counselors as much as they are advocates, and he always aims to serve his clients with compassion, patience and pragmatic advice.

Attorney Daken has worked exclusively in the area of matrimonial and family law since joining a predecessor firm of Siegel, Colin & Kaufman, P.C. in 2011. He became a partner at the firm in 2020. Prior to beginning his career as a family law attorney, Attorney Daken served as a clerk for the Superior Court of the Judicial District of New Haven at Meriden, where he gained unique insight into the judicial process as well as exposure to a wide range of civil and family matters.

While at Quinnipiac School of Law, Attorney Daken worked at the Civil Legal Clinic, providing pro bono legal services in various civil and family matters. In connection with his work at the clinic, he was the recipient of the James R. DeFonce '80 Memorial Endowed Scholarship for his advocacy on behalf of disabled clients and also received an Award for Excellence in Clinical Work.

Attorney Daken is admitted to practice in Connecticut and is a member of the Fairfield County, Connecticut and American Bar Associations. He currently serves as a Co-Chairman of the Family Section of the Fairfield County Bar Association and is a member of the Collaborative Divorce Attorneys of Fairfield County. Attorney Daken also volunteers as a special master for the Superior Court for the Judicial District of Stamford/Norwalk.

Particularly in his capacity as a co-chairman of the FCBA Family Section, Attorney Daken has helped guide the curriculum of seminars offered to the local bar, and he has been a featured presenter in seminars concerning Collaborative Divorce: An ADR Alternative for Family Cases (2020) and Post-Majority Child Support: A Primer & Discussion of Practical Considerations (2018). In 2013, Attorney Daken attended the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers National Institute for Family Law Associates in Chicago, Illinois.

Attorney Daken is proud to have been recognized as a New England Super Lawyers® Rising Star in the area of Family Law from 2015 to the present.

Originally from Illinois, Attorney Daken relocated to Connecticut in 2006 and now resides in Orange with his wife and two daughters.
